After two years of writing, recording and post-production - along with a whole bunch of yabbering - Lava Fangs’ brand spanking new EP, Unclarity is a tasty snack to savour as the quartet’s eagerly awaited second LP is stewing. The EP serves as an appetiser, preparing the ear balls for an album that runs the gamut of genres, with the band taking interesting risks, pushing the boundaries and hitting their stride as songwriters, performers and producers all.

Unclarity embraces the garage-y, power pop goodness Lava Fangs are known and loved for, with a little extra chutzpah, and sees the band getting earnestly silly: opening with frenetic energy on ‘Cut Me Loose’ (including a verse in German*), arraying amazing alliteration on ‘She’s So Cool’, and swearing an awful lot on ‘Fuck Around, Find Out’; while ‘Raise Your Glasses’ rounds out the EP, bringing new, mature sounds and production for the band, and a guest vocal from Jo Ward (Boyettes/The Flirts). A little taste of what’s to come? Probably.

All four tracks (plus 3 interlude pieces) on Unclarity were conceived while creating the soon-to-be-released second LP, and these tracks have found a special place together, standing apart from the album.
